Floating Farm Helps Power UK Needs

Terje Aase/

Hywind, the first floating wind farm in the UK, is located 15 miles offshore of Peterhead, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon says, “The government’s commitment to the development of this technology, coupled with Statoil’s [lithium] battery storage project, Batwind, positions Scotland as a world center for energy innovation.” Hywind is operated by Norwegian oil and gas company Statoil ASA and Masdar Abu Dhabi Future Energy Co.
