Acton Pharmacy to Host Free Lecture on Lyme Disease
Acton Pharmacy will host a free lecture on Lyme disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment from 7 to 8 p.m, May 9. The lecture will be led by Carol Englender, M.D., of Integrative Medicine, in Framingham.
In Massachusetts, Lyme disease infection can occur any time of the year. Young ticks, called nymphs, are typically most active between May and July, and adult ticks are most active during the fall and spring months, but can also survive some of the winter when temperatures are above freezing. The bacteria that can cause Lyme disease are spread by black-legged ticks that exist throughout the state.
