Cooking from a place of stillness: mindful pasta making class

Let’s gather to become grounded in peace and mindfully make pasta together

The experience of mindful cooking: Cooking with an open heart and connecting with our senses. With this practice I invite you to experience mindfulness in the kitchen — a feeling of being in your body and fully inhabiting your senses: We will begin the practice inviting awareness to the present moment with mindful breathing and setting an intention, then proceed to make pasta from scratch by using just water, flour, and your hands. This experience is uniquely you: It invites you to enter and dwell in the mental and physical sensations. As we focus on the act of kneading the dough and shaping the pasta with our hands, we dissolve the boundaries created by our thoughts and allow ourselves to experience the sensations of the present moment. The pasta: In this class we will make a pasta called gnocculi, typical of the Trapani area in Sicily. This pasta shape has been made since the 14th century! What to bring to the class: - 200gr (7oz) of all purpose flour - 100gr (3.5oz) of water OR - 100gr (3.5oz) of all purpose flour and 100gr (3.5oz) of semolina flour - 100gr (3.5oz) of water - Any sauce you like or just butter, olive oil, salt and pepper, and the cheese you prefer. - One extra cup of water and extra flour if needed - One mixing bowl - A clean countertop or a large cutting board Optional If you would like your pasta to be of a color you like feel free to add one of these natural powders: Blue - butterfly pea flowers powder Green - spirulina powder Pink - red beet powder Yellow - turmeric powder Orange - red pepper powder Black - activated charcoal powder How to join: this class is offered online.
