Why Heart Rate Variability Matters

Featured Guest Speaker: Guy Odishaw, RCST, co-founder, CerebralFit

It seems the term “heart rate variability” is on everyone’s lips these days, especially among those who are curious about fitness, recovery, and overall performance optimization. Heart rate variability--HRV for short--is a bellwether for chronic illness, a marker for stress hardiness, and when tracked or monitored over time, a powerful tool for healing. Therefore, each one of us can benefit from exploring our own heart rate variability and why it matters.

Different than your actual heartbeat, HRV refers to the variation in the time interval between consecutive heartbeats. Intimately connected with the autonomic nervous system, HRV can give you a leg up on longevity, physiology, and health. Research suggests that higher heart rate variability has been found to be associated with reduced mortality and improved psychological well-being.

Please join us on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023, at 12:00 ET as Guy Odishaw, expert therapist in neurofeedback/neuromodulation and co-founder of CerebralFit, explains the highs and lows of this important, non-invasive method for detecting physiological changes in the body during the active and resting stages.

During this BioBites presentation, you will learn:

what heart rate variability is how HRV is directly related to depression and anxiety
how heart rate variability is measured (ECG vs. PPG)
how to test your heart rate variability what to do if your heart rate variability is low
and whether “wearable” technology HRV results are accurate
