Financial advisor John Gautreaux, ChFC, with Independence Financial Partners, in Warwick, Rhode Island, is marking two special milestones this year: his 24th year in private practice and his first wedding anniversary with wife Trish.

Gautreaux’s career began in banking, but a longtime friend encouraged him to consider financial services. In 2001, he took the leap, just weeks before 9/11. That moment, he says, shaped his practice by reminding him that real wealth is measured in family, stability and legacy.

Since then, Gautreaux has built a boutique, independent fiduciary practice rooted in Rhode Island values. He works closely with families across multiple generations, often celebrating their milestones right alongside them. His team maintains a “family tree” chart to track client anniversaries, weddings and new grandchildren. He hosts an annual appreciation event, which he calls one of the most rewarding parts of the work, because it allows him to thank clients in person for their trust and friendship.

Gautreaux credits both his in-house staff and a strong network of CPAs, attorneys and other professionals for helping him deliver thoughtful, tailored service. He is also focused on succession planning, mentoring the next wave of advisors to ensure continuity of care for his clients.
