Boston Heart Walk Aims to Turn Bystanders Into Lifesavers

The American Heart Association will host the 2025 Boston Heart Walk on October 18 at Boston Common to raise awareness about cardiac arrest and the lifesaving importance of bystander CPR. The event opens at 9 a.m., with a program beginning at 10:15 a.m. followed by the walk at 10:30 a.m.

The family-friendly day brings the community together to get active, raise life-saving funds and support the mission of the American Heart Association. Whether participants are seasoned walkers or just looking for a great day out, the event celebrates heart health, honors survivors and remembers loved ones affected by heart disease and stroke. Music, activities and camaraderie will fill the day as walkers lace up their sneakers for the cause.

According to the Heart Association, nine out of 10 people that suffer cardiac arrest outside a hospital don’t survive, often because bystander CPR is not performed. The organization’s goal is to ensure at least one person in every household feels confident enough to perform CPR when needed. Funds raised by walkers and local sponsors help advance the Association’s mission to create longer, healthier lives.
