Urge SAMHSA to Reverse Grant Cancellations
CAyers / Firefly.Adobe.com
On January 13, 2026, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) sent a letter to numerous agency grant recipients stating that certain grants have been terminated. The stated reason for the terminations provided in the letter is that SAMHSA may terminate a federal award “to the extent authorized by law, if an award no longer effectuates the program goals or agency priorities.”
These cancellations put lives at risk in every community across the country. Let your members of Congress know about the impacts of these grant cancellations and how harmful they are for people living with a mental health or substance use challenge.
