Free Clinic Provides Screenings, Consultations and Health Resources
Dr. Gopakumar Nair
The LASA Foundation will conduct a free medical clinic from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on April 11, 2026, at the Sai Unity Center, in Lowell, Massachusetts, helping to bridge gaps in community health care. In partnership with local health departments, community organizations and culturally diverse health professionals, the clinic will provide preventive health screenings, mental health support services, nutrition and health education, and both general and specialty medical consultations onsite in a welcoming, community-based setting.
Access to timely, compassionate health care remains a challenge for many families, particularly those facing language barriers, lack of insurance or difficulty navigating complex health systems. The clinic addresses these challenges by bringing health care directly into the community through a collaborative and culturally responsive model of care.
Dr. Suman Koganti, medical director of the LASA Foundation, emphasizes that initiatives like this play an important role in strengthening community health. He notes that community clinics not only provide immediate medical attention, but also help individuals connect with preventive services, health education and long-term care pathways, all essential to improving overall public health outcomes.
The clinic will benefit uninsured visitors by offering a one-stop resource hub for medical consultations and guidance on obtaining health insurance and ongoing care. Designed to reduce barriers, the event requires no insurance and will have no wait times. Culturally diverse medical professionals, supported by trained interpreters, will provide integrated, patient-centered care in a respectful and supportive environment.
