Mindful Momentum

Who else drives themselves batty with what can sometimes feel like a tornado swirling around in their brain? I know I’m not alone in this and for the life of me, as a person who does not have children, I cannot even imagine what it must be like for moms and dads to juggle the needs of their little ones amidst the rest of life’s demands in this ever rapidly changing world. My hat is off to all of you!
Leading off with our feature story this month, writer and coach Hannah Tytus offers practical advice in her article entitled “Activating Neuroplasticity, The Brain’s Ultimate Rewind Button.” In this piece, we learn about new research indicating that whether we're young or old, it’s never too late for us to rewire our brains to strengthen, reroute, or even grow new connections.
In “The Psychology of Clutter, How Your Environment Impacts Productivity and Mindset,” writer and professional organizer Katy Annulli examines and offers solutions for the deeper impact of clutter on the brain, showing how disorganized environments create stress, drain focus, and reinforce negative mental patterns.
In “Overlooked Nutritional Deficiencies That Can Sabotage Brain Health,” by integrative and functional dietitian Alora Frederick, we learn the crucial role nutrition plays in brain health and cognitive performance, revealing how often-overlooked deficiencies can impact memory, focus and mood. We learn about key nutrients tied to mental clarity, the science behind brain-boosting foods and compounds, and how certain combinations can enhance sustained energy and focus.
Having fallen away from my daily practice of meditation for some time and experiencing the negative effects of my monkey-mind, last month I got back on that bandwagon and have been noticing the profound difference consistent practice makes. Even just a few days without practice can easily set me off course.
Knowing that consistency is the key to lasting change in any area we’d like to improve, the beauty of mindfulness practices is that most of them provide cumulative effects. The more we practice, the easier it becomes to manage unexpected stresses life can sometimes throw at us.
With the prayer that you find something within these pages that supports you on this journey, I hope you thoroughly enjoy the beauty of this season!
Peace,
